The Problem

Target Group

We chose to work with commuters as the target audience for our e-reader. Although we knew that most available e-readers have already been targeted for reading on-the-go as a commuter would, we believed that what we saw of them still left much to be desired and did not address many of the more specific issues that one comes across during the commuting process.

Commuting

While commuting may be dismissed as just another way of getting to work, there are many pros and cons to using public transportation over a personal vehicle. Although driving your own car allows you space that you can adjust to your needs, the cost of insurance, maintenance, parking, the rising price of gas, and of course, the car itself sometimes renders driving impractical. So, as more and more people look to commuting as a viable option, we come to the problems that go with commuting.

While commuting does offer the big bonus of having your hands free to do something on your way to work, what can you do in such an environment? Jostled around by the motion of the bus and the constant noises--people talking, cell-phones ringing, babies crying--no wonder people still choose to drive.
